School Update

I can’t believe how long it has been since I’ve gotten the chance to sit down and write.  This quarter has been flying by thus far.  It’s hard to believe were already 3 weeks in.  The transition from switching back to a college campus from a working environment has been an enjoyable process.  I really missed not being on UC’s campus.

Classes have been going relatively well.  My business classes are pretty dull this quarter, it sucks not having an Philosophy classes to balance them out.  I still reap the benefits from being full time College of Business, though.  No Friday classes, so it’s hard to complain.

I found out recently that one of my favorite professors in the Philosophy Department might not have a job here next year.  He was only a temporary professor, but I couldn’t believe they didn’t offer him a full time position.  I was in the undergrad director’s office talking to the department head about it, and expressing my opinion and concerns.  From the sounds of it, Philosophy is a tough market to land a job in.  He showed me 3 boxes full of applications filled with various PhD caliber candidates all competing for a single job.  It really put things in perspective.  Graduation is 2 years away and it’s sneaking up fast.

I found out recently that I am going to be able to be dually admitted into both the College of Business and College of Arts and Science, meaning I’d get two diplomas upon graduation.  I was surprised at how relatively easy classes seemed to cover my core requisites of both colleges.  It’s funny how little I planned what I wanted to do when I first came to UC and how much of it is seemingly falling in line before graduation.  Only a few credits left to go.  These ducks be easy pickins now.
